"In each copper panel, I aim to strike a balance between my own desire to control the chemicals I use with the beauty that comes from surrendering to their natural inclinations. My process begins with a sheet of copper, an industrial material traditionally only valued for its function. Using nitrates and oxides, I strive to revise the metal’s purpose by creating aesthetic value. The dynamic dance of chemicals and acid, control and surrender required in creating each panel is etched on the pieces and will hopefully become a new and lasting memory imprinted on each viewer."
